SOP on Dedusting & Decartoning of Material’s Containers 

1.0 Purpose: This SOP describes the procedure for the dedusting and decartoning of the containers of materials.

2.0 Scope: This SOP is applicable to all the materials (raw and / or packaging) received for the manufacture of a drug product.

3.0 Responsibility:  Senior Production Chemist to ensure that the procedure is followed.

4.0 Materials and Equipment: As required.

5.0 Procedure: 

5.1 Receive the materials in the area ear marked for Dedusting & Decartoning of materials.

5.2 Clean the outer surface of the containers with dry lint free cloth / vacuum cleaner.

5.3 Remove the straps from the containers, if any.

5.4 Remove the outer coverings of jute bags / polythene bags, if any from the corrugated / plastic drums.

5.5 Clean the outer surfaces of the corrugated / plastic drums with lint free dry cloth / vacuum cleaner.

5.6 Clean the printed packaging materials (foils / cartons etc.) with a dry lint free cloth.
